Locally rooted, nationally connected: introducing a new chapter for our movement
Today, we're launching a new brand and visual identity that represents our UK-wide movement of community foundations.
Over the past fifty years, community foundations have grown from pioneering local organisations into trusted UK-wide infrastructure for place-based philanthropy and community investment.
Today, community foundations collectively distribute more than £180 million each year to grassroots charities and community groups throughout the UK, while bringing together local insight, philanthropy and long-term investment to strengthen communities.
As our movement has evolved, we have recognised the need for a stronger and more consistent identity that better reflects who we are today.
This shift reflects the role community foundations now play collectively in driving place-based philanthropy and enabling investment in communities to transform people’s lives.
Looking back – and forward
This launch also comes at a meaningful time for community foundations.
Fifty years on from the establishment of the UK’s first community foundation, our movement is operating at unprecedented scale and visibility. Community foundations are stewarding long-term philanthropic capital, responding to local challenges, supporting grassroots organisations and helping to shape conversations around local giving and community resilience nationally.
Throughout that growth, one thing has remained consistent: community foundations are deeply rooted in the places they serve. Local knowledge, long-term relationships and trust within communities remain at the heart of the movement.
Our new look is intended to reflect both that local strength and the growing collective role community foundations play together nationally.
Our Chief Executive, Emma de Closset, welcomes our next chapter:
“At a time when communities face both significant challenges and opportunities, community foundations have an increasingly important role to play. Our new identity reflects the strength of our movement today – locally rooted, nationally connected, and committed to building stronger communities for the long term.
“We are so grateful to the partners and supporters who have helped community foundations grow local impact over many years. Their support has helped build a stronger, more connected movement serving communities across the UK.”
