UK Community Foundations (UKCF) is delighted to be partnering with The National Lottery Community Fund and the Centre for the Acceleration of Social Technology (CAST) on a new two-year, £3.1 million initiative, exploring how AI can work for and with communities across the UK. A programme with two strands

Community Powered AI

Support for a small number of pilots bringing community organisations and technologists together to design AI tools. These will be grounded in local needs and community values.

Pulse Network

50 grants to community organisations and specialist AI and data ethics organisations. This will build a UK-wide early-warning network that captures how AI is showing up in communities – the opportunities, the harms and the quieter shifts that would otherwise go unnoticed.

Through a range of free-to-access support resources, peer learning and advocacy, CAST supports the sector to use technology in ways that are effective, equitable and mission-driven. CAST's work focuses on building confidence, strengthening resilience and ensuring charities can shape – and not just respond to – the technologies that affect us all.
