Honorary PresidentBaroness Usha PrasharCBE Honorary President
As well as being the Honorary President for UK Community Foundations, Baroness Prashar is President of the National Literacy Trust and formerly served on the Iraq Inquiry. Baroness Prashar was appointed inaugural Chairman of the Judicial Appointments Commission in October 2005 – a post she held until September 2010. She is also a Governor of the Ditchley Foundation, a Trustee of Cumberland Lodge and President of the Royal Commonwealth Society, having previously served as the Society’s chairman. From 2000 to 2005, Baroness Prashar was the First Civil Service Commissioner. Prior to this, she was Chairman of the Parole Board for England and Wales (1997-2000), Director of the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (1986-1991) and Director of the Runnymede Trust (1976-84). She was also a member of the Royal Commission on Criminal Justice (1991-93) and was a member of the Lord Chancellor’s Advisory Committee on Legal Education and Conduct (1992-97).
A Crossbencher in the House of Lords, she is Chair of the Sub-Committee on Lords’ Interests, a member of the Privileges Committee and a member of the Joint Committee on Human Rights.
She was educated at the independent Wakefield Girls’ High School. She read politics at the University of Leeds and undertook postgraduate studies in Social Administration at the University of Glasgow.

Jane was appointed Chairman of UKCF in October 2018.
After graduating from Hull University with a degree in Drama & English in 1985, Jane worked in theatre, film, television, radio, the record industry and marketing and PR in London. During this time she was housekeeper to Doris Lessing the novelist.
She moved to the North East in 1996 where she established Joined Up North, a consultancy business specialising in strategic development, regeneration and place marketing though culture, heritage and tourism projects.
Following a move back to her home county of Yorkshire in 2009 she is now working in non-executive roles. She is founding chair of Make It York, a destination management and business development company and a board member of the York, North Yorkshire and East Riding LEP. She also represents the LEP on the local European Structural and Investment Fund committee. She is vice chair of Spirit of 2012 a funding charity established with a £47m endowment from the Big Lottery Fund. She also chairs two partnership boards; the Hadrian’s Wall Partnership and the Culture & Place Strategic Advisory Group in Hull.
Previously Jane was an advisory board member National Trust Yorkshire & North East including chairing the board of the successful Seaton Delaval Hall acquisition with specific responsibility for the Risk Register; a director and acting chair of November Club Theatre Company leading them through their successful 3rd round National Portfolio Organisation deal; chair of Visit York leading 750 members through the successful incorporation into Make It York and chair of the advisory board York Mystery Plays 2012 a £1.2million production with over 1000 community cast and crew.Victoria Miles DLVice Chair

Victoria Miles DL has been involved with Community Foundations for a number of years. She is currently the Chief Executive of Northamptonshire Community Foundation.
In August 2016, Victoria was appointed the Deputy Lieutenant of Northamptonshire. The prestigious role requires acting a representative of the Queen for the county.Colin Seccombe
Colin Seccombe is a chartered accountant who has previously worked at Newcastle Building Society as Chief Executive. Before this, Colin was a partner at KPMG, specialising in auditing and corporate finance.
He is also a Trustee of Community Foundation Tyne & Wear and Northumberland, joining in 2007. In addition, Colin is Chair of the Community Foundation’s Finance & Investment Committee.Alun Evans
Alun Evans is currently a Trustee for Community Foundation in Wales.
He joined Quilter Cheviot in September 2009 and is also a Fellow of the Chartered Securities Institute.John Nickson
John Nickson describes himself as a campaigner for philanthropy and charitable giving. He is an experienced fundraiser and donor, and has spent 40 years working in the charitable sector.

Jan Garrill joined the UKCF Board in November 2016. She is currently Chief Executive of Two Ridings Community Foundation, which supports community projects across York, North Yorkshire, Hull, and East Yorkshire.
Jan has extensive experience of working with communities. Before joining Two Ridings Community Foundation, Jan worked at Newcastle City Council for 11 years, where her roles included Head of Communities and Head of Community Engagement.Stephen Singleton
Stephen Singleton joined the UKCF Board in November 2016. He is currently the Chief Executive of Suffolk Community Foundation, a position he has held since 2005.
Before moving to the voluntary sector, Stephen spent over twenty five years as a senior executive within commerce gaining experience across manufacturing, distribution and service industries.Martha Wilkinson
Martha joined the UKCF Board in November 2016. However, she has been involved with Community Foundations for longer, becoming the Chief Executive of Devon Community Foundation in September 2009.
Martha has 30 years of consulting experience to the public sector, specialising in social regeneration and economic development.Niamh Goggin
Niamh Goggin is the Director of Small Change Ltd, a social investment consultancy. She is also a Trustee at Community Foundation for Northern Ireland.

I am the Chief Executive of UK Community Foundations, where I drive growth of the influence and funding of Community Foundations. I also support each of our 46 Community Foundations across the UK in their continued development.
I qualified as a lawyer and worked in corporate finance at Kleinwort Benson and Merrill Lynch. In 2009, I joined Marie Curie Cancer Care as the Director of Fundraising and Retail, and as a member of the Executive Board. I am a passionate believer of the importance of charitable activity.

As the Director of Programmes & Development, I am responsible for identifying and developing sources of funding for UKCF and the Community Foundation network, as well as effectively delivering our suite of national programmes.
I develop relationships to secure new donations for projects and core funding, from major donors and corporate partnerships, as well as building and managing senior relationships with programme funders, community foundations, and other stakeholders across the delivery chain.
I worked previously for Locality, which is a nationwide movement of communities working towards change, and for the Natural History Museum, running successful consultancies for both of them.
I’m a keen gardener, devoted dog owner, and a Trustee for a local community organisiation.

As part of the development team I work to secure new funding opportunities and programmes for the network. My role includes the management of the Beacon Awards for philanthropy; a biennial celebration of excellence in philanthropic practice and separate charity powered by UKCF. Beacon highlights examples of pioneering approaches to giving in order to positively influence the philanthropy of future generations. I manage the full awards process and liaise with our inspirational Beacon winners, in order to create a fellowship network of leading UK philanthropists.
Before joining UK Community Foundations in 2013, I worked on the Major Giving team at Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres, where I first became passionate about philanthropy. I graduated from the University of Sussex in 2009 with BA Honours in Art History. Following my degree, I worked for a time as a freelance artist and illustrator and still have a deep routed arty side.

My role is to raise the collective voice and profile Community Foundations and showcase the difference they make to people’s lives up and down the country.
This includes working with journalists to secure press coverage, building relationships with stakeholders, overseeing the website and social media, and amplifying the achievements of the Community Foundation network at a national level.
Before joining UKCF I was a senior communications manager at the Big Lottery Fund, promoting the organisation’s work across England and the UK, and prior to that I worked central government press offices on policy areas including science and criminal justice.

I am the Membership Manager at UK Community Foundations, and my role is to oversee UKCF’s relationship with our 46 Community Foundation members. This includes ensuring that we deliver and improve key parts of our membership offer, and implementing our quality accreditation programme.
I have significant experience of working in the voluntary, community and public sector in areas such as membership development, quality and community engagement. I particularly enjoy building relationships, and am passionate about engaging providers and service users in the planning and delivery of services.
In my spare time I enjoy cooking and running, and my guilty pleasures include cookery books and programmes!

I joined UK Community Foundations in August 2018 as Head of Learning, leading on the design and delivery of the Leadership Programme.
I am a passionate learning and organisational development professional with a focus on authentic leadership. I deliver coaching, training and facilitation to help organisations develop leaders at all levels, providing individuals with the reflective space to understand themselves better and the skills to be positive change agents. I began my career as a secondary school English teacher and have built on this background with experience in coaching, generative listening, co-creation, and senior management in the third and public sectors.
Roles with the British Red Cross and the University of Nottingham and freelance work with the National Trust have given me experience in leadership programme development, learning design and group facilitation, as well as change management, strategy development and transformational coaching.

In my role at UKCF I support the delivery of a portfolio of national grant programmes delivered through the national network of Community Foundations.
I’m particularly interested in how impact evaluation can be used effectively to influence best practice and learning, while working on streamlining and creating effective grants processes and systems.
Before joining UK Community Foundations I was Monitoring and Evaluation Manager for the educational charity, SHINE Trust. My educational background is based in the arts and I completed my Art History MA from the University of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada in 2012.
In my spare time I enjoy singing and playing guitar and at any one time have numerous incomplete creative projects on the go!
